To get the following screenshot, off of my iPod touch I had to-do the following -

Downgrade iPod firmware to 1.1.1 following instructions at -

http://www.touchdev.net/wiki/Jailbreak_1.1.2

Next I had to install Java Runtime, to run the final component to let me use latest version of iPod firmware (1.1.2) with Jail broken software.

I then installed the screenshot program, which let me take the screenshot and copy it to a directory on the iPod.  This was easy, as the package installer installed by the above gave me a link to the software.

Final hurdle,  was to use WINSCP  ( http://winscp.net )which let me transfer the image across to my desktop PC.

Look I was a bit bored!

I think this proves my point rather nicely.   To get the best out of current mobile devices you really do need to build special versions of your website to get the true benefit.

Check out -

If you view the HTML you can see what a complete flaff coding for Safari looks like.

I'm unable to give you a screenshot as my new Christmas pressie iPod touch is as locked down as a very locked down thing (it came installed with firmware 1.1.2 :-( ) ...

Oh for the simplicity of Soti and Windows Mobile....

This is a little work around that I've been using for a while.

I need to check my home email alongside my corporate email on my WM device.

In addition,   I need to check my personal calendar contacts etc. off of my home exchange server., when I'm out an about.

So I'm still using the long forgotten about Outlook Mobile Access (OMA).        Give it a try if you use Outlook Web access just change your normal outlook web access from  http://YOURURL/exchange   to http://YOURURL/oma

If you do this on your Windows Mobile device you should get a screen that looks like this -

So there you go,  how to check multiple exchange accounts on one mobile device.

This is an interesting little tidbit.     If you are using SQL Compact replicated down to a mobile device,  you often find that you want to clear out data on the handheld once it has been sent back to the server.

However rather than building an archiving process the simplest way to remove data is to filter it out.

Using SQL Server.   Its possible to set for any table a filter rule that achieves just this result.

So by putting a where clause in that simply says where 1=0   means that once a record has been synchronised from mobile device back to server it is no longer on the mobile device.

Job done.

I've just got to say.  I've got 20mb/s (upto) broadband.   However for the past 3 weeks I've got only 300k/s (yes really)  i.e  .3mb/s.

Virgin Media have told me on one call that customer service should have sent me a new modem as my previous unit was not capable of 20mb/s.    Then after cutting me off of this phone call,  told me that I need an engineer to visit and they would not send out a new modem.    Coupled with which they could not get an engineer to me for 2 weeks.

So, sorry chaps.   If you can read this post its a miracle...

Rant over..
